Q: What do I do if I am interested in becoming a Foster Parent in Pinellas or Pasco County?
A: Eckerd Community Alternatives is the CBC (community based care) provider for Pinellas and Pasco Counties. If you live in Pinellas or Pasco county, you will need to contact Eckerd Community Alternatives - Foster/Adoptive Parent Toll Free Recruitment Line at 1-866-233-0790 or 727-456-0600 x 2211.

Q: When and where are the PCFAPA monthly meetings held?
A: PCFAPA meetings are held the Secnd Monday of every month from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. For location information, please contact a board member or login and view our calendar. (The calendar is only available for registered members)
Q: Will I earn training hours for coming to the meeting?
A: Yes, each person who attends the meetings will earn 2 hours towards the yearly 16 hour requirement for relicensing. Each person in the family is responsible for his/her training hours.
Q: What if I want to foster, but I am not sure if it is right for me?
A: Becoming a foster parent is a big step with a big commitment. It typically takes folks two years of thinking about it before they make the decision to become foster parents. Talk to your family (entire family, children included) and make sure this is a commitment you are ready to take on.
Q: If I am a foster parent and I need help with an issue, what should I do?
A: You should speak to your case worker or licensing specialist and work your way up the chain of command at your CBC to get the issue resolved.
